Kitchen Remodel One:

We first met this Bettendorf, IA couple at a QCBR Home Show event. They had been considering a remodel to their existing kitchen for a number of years but hadn’t really been inspired yet to take on the full kitchen remodel for their Bettendorf home. After meeting Village Home Stores at their home, our designer suggested something that they hadn’t even considered before…removing a wall and opening the space.

An existing wall divided the front Living Room area from the current kitchen. Our designer was able to show them a rendered drawing of a possible layout of the kitchen if that wall was removed. Now they were even more intrigued. Time passed as they considered the project and the more they stared at that wall, the more they realized… that wall had to go. By removing an existing wall to bury a supporting header within, the space is now open and bright.

This new kitchen features Koch cabinets in the Seneca Birch “Briarwood” stain and a complete suite of Stainless Steel Whirlpool appliances give this kitchen an updated look while looking right at home in the space. Instead of matching the exact color of Oak trim and furniture throughout the home, the flooring and cabinets change to a similar tone but a more closed grain of wood. Selecting wood tones that compliment each other instead of duplicating a finish can really give off a more polished look in many cases. Our thanks this Bettendorf couple for striking up a conversation with us at the home show and for inviting us back in to share it with you on our TV show.

Kitchen Remodel Two:

Like many remodel stories, this one begins with a leaking pipe. A reverse osmosis system ended up flooding the floor of the existing kitchen damaging the current floor, the base section cabinets of the island, and some of the perimeter. But this remodeled space in Bettendorf, Iowa is now stunning!

With three young children and busy lifestyle, a functional use of space wit plenty of storage for this busy family was priority. A 42″ wide panel-ready refrigerator was the perfect choice. Plenty of storage within and no large panels of Stainless Steel to distract from the overall look. A shallow cabinet caps off the Built-in refrigerator and conceals a kitchen command center area immediately accessed when entering from the garage. Directly behind this command center is an open charging station as well.

The old location of the cook top was on the same wall as it is now. The user in the old layout was very crowded by the refrigerator immediately to its right. The cooking area of the new design now includes plenty of prep space on either side as well as a lot of style. The matching wood hood conceals a Broan blower within and this section becomes the main focal point of that facing wall of the kitchen.

The perimeter of the kitchen is the Koch “Westbrook” door style. It is a Birch wood painted “Pearl” and an “Umber” glaze has been applied. The cabinet construction has been upgraded to a dovetailed drawerbox on full-extension, soft-closing guides.

The large island in the new design is also from Koch. The same “Westbrook” door this time in a Cherry wood has been finished in the “Java” color. The new island has more of a furniture look to it. Access to storage from all sides of the space add function and the Microwave drawer is easily accessible but hidden from first sight as you enter the room. Legs have been added to the raised eat-in area of the Island in the same style as the cook top bump-out area. “Delicatus” granite counters throughout bring the entire look together.
