Warm Gray Stained Cabinets and Provenza Hardwood Floors:

Gray has been making big waves in the Kitchen and Bath Industry and this Quad Cities kitchen is a wonderful example of the trend. A rustic wood cabinet stained in a warm gray finish is paired with Cambria Quartz counters in the New Quay design. We also love the bold tile selections for this kitchen. Two styles of mosaic tiles in warm gray colors have been installed in a very stylish way behind a KitchenAid canopy hood.

The warm gray stain of the cabinets allow for the woodgrain and rustic knots to be showcased. This stain compliments the hardwood floors so well. Provenza hardwood floors in a rich medium-dark finish have been installed at an angle for an added edge to the finished space.

A wide peninsula divides the new kitchen area from the rest of the Great Room. A raised bar-height top adds seating and serving space to the design. There are plenty of great storage cabinets in the new kitchen. Be sure to watch this kitchen tour to see features like sliding shelves, angled end cabinets, and pull-out cuttingboards.

Just around the corner from the new kitchen is a bathroom that has been arranged to include a front-load laundry pair with folding counter. A tall linen cabinet is perfect for storing cleaning supplies and a hanging rod is installed between cabinetry right above the laundry. Having the laundry area centrally located in a busy household is becoming a very popular home feature for our new construction customers and we are beginning to see this choice made when available in remodels. VillageHomeShow S2E2.3

Granite Fabrication and a New Look For Formica

On this episode of the Village Home Show, you’ll learn about the different types of countertop materials to fit your lifestyle and taste. We’ll take you on a tour to one of our stone fabrication shops to see the customization process. Plus we show you a before and after kitchen story that includes Formica’s 180FX series with a marble counter fakeout you have to see to believe. Press play below to watch.

When comparing a laminate countertop to a solid surface countertop, they are not heat and scratch resistant. Because quartz countertops are nonporous, there is no maintenance required.

With a natural stone, there is a sealant applied to the stone because the surface is porous. Typically you shouldn’t have to reseal the stone for another 10 years, but it all depends on how much you use the countertop kits. Natural stones come in large slabs of material so you can expect seams. For customers concerned about seams, they should view the slabs and choose the best one for their kitchen design. When the fabricator comes to the customer’s home to do the template, he will look for the placement of the seam.

Fortunately, natural stone countertops can also be installed in bathrooms. One of the best choices for your bathroom is the quartz countertop due to its low maintenance factor. We also offer marble because it is easy to keep clean and care for.

The Edge Profile

The edge profile may seem like a small detail, but it’s that type of detail that gives your countertop an appealing look. There are a variety of options to choose from. However, some are limited to certain material. In the category of stone countertops, there are a number of edge profile options available such as a standard ease edge, half round edge, and more. Other interesting edge options include the rustic, chisel profile. Each category of countertop material has a number of edge options for you and your design needs.

The Granite Fabrication Process

Whenever a price is quoted for Natural Stone or Quartz countertops from our store, fabrication is included in the price. The fabrication process has always been a part of the process that remains a mystery… until now. In Episode 5 we toured the warehouse where you can select your slab of material…but what happens next? Take a trip with us to Wilton Iowa in this episode to find out.

VillageHomeShow S1E10.3

BJ shows us around the Surface Resource facility and walks us through the whole process from receiving to installation. Learn everything from sink cutouts to how your edge profile is applied. This was a very fun and interesting day of filming.

Before and After Kitchen in Geneseo, IL

Many of our featured kitchens include rooms that have been opened up because of a wall being removed.. but not all projects are that extreme. In this kitchen remodel, we used the same space and just added new materials without removing any walls.

VillageHomeShow S1E10.1

Bright, painted white cabinetry and classic marble countertops…….or wait? That’s Formica! Yes indeed! Formica’s 180fx series of large-format printed laminate has been installed for a great marble fakeout that is very successful. VillageHomeShow S1E10.2

Amazing Kitchen, Bath, and Laundry Before and After Story

With a beautiful countryside view, this Taylor Ridge, IL, home is a wonderful example of what new traditional means in kitchen remodeling. In this episode of the Village Home Show we tour a newly remodeled kitchen plus an adjacent hall bath that now includes laundry. Press play below to watch.

Like many homes, this original U-shaped kitchen layout includes a peninsula that separates the dining space from the kitchen area. Several areas in the kitchen needed an upgrade, including the soffits, cabinets, doors, laminate countertops, a scalloped valance above the window, refrigerator, and an unused wall of space that separated the kitchen. The original kitchen also included an entire wall, making the kitchen look smaller with no open space. All of these areas had room for improvement. Do any of these details sound familiar in your home? Then you will love to see how Village Home Stores can transform your living space in this episode.

VillageHomeShow S1E9.2

When designing the layout we envisioned a much larger living space that included multiple finishes and materials to give the home a more modern look. A large single-level island was custom built in the new space once the wall was removed. The new island is stained with a rich mocha finish to add contrast to the colorful design.

VillageHomeShow S1E9.1

We love this two-toned kitchen look and you will really fall in love with the tiled backsplash above the range. The lighting above the kitchen island and in the nearby Dining Area really completes the look. To accent the glass-door cabinetry, we installed can lights and diode LED lighting system. This lighting system helps wash the beautiful new backsplash tile with light plus the interior of those glass-door cabinets.

VillageHomeShow S1E9.3

In addition to the kitchen, we also remodeled the bathroom and laundry room, which shares a wall with the kitchen. The original bathroom had a single sink vanity which was replaced with a double bowl vanity. Custom built cabinets were built around them to allow extra cabinet space. We installed were sliding barn doors which is one of our favorite design choices by many clients. A sliding barn door was placed at the entrance of the space. When you slide it back, the homeowner enters the new beautiful bathroom.

VillageHomeShow S1E9.4

Having the laundry area in the bathroom is a unique feature which makes washing clothes so much easier. With the bedrooms just down the hall, this laundry area became more accessible and convenient. We installed a heavy duty front load washer and dryer by Maytag . The Maytag Maxima Series is built with the commercial technology you count on from Maytag. It has a wide range of features and prevents moisture from building up in the gasket.

Two Bathroom Remodels Plus Some Amazing Switches and Outlets

We welcome you to watch Episode 7 of the Village Home Show! In this episode of the show we are excited to share two remodeling stories of local bathrooms that get a huge reboot! We have shown many kitchen remodels, but this time we are exploring bathrooms. Another topic we are excited to cover in this episode is new options for outlets and light switches. They really are something special.

Spacious Bettendorf Iowa Bathroom Gets a Makeover

The first bathroom we look at in this episode had a ton of space already. The homeowners were right in knowing that just a few changes could really make it really suit their needs. Village Homes Stores gave it a warm, neutral look with a traditional style that creates an amazing getaway for the homeowners. A bench seat was added and a beautiful tiled shower area really completes the look. With glass on two sides, it creates an amazing open look.

VillageHomeShow S7E1.1

A 5 Star Bathroom Retreat in Colona, IL

A lot went into the preparations for the second bathroom we have to share with you on this episode. The original bathroom had a very large layout with lots of great natural light. The homeowners were looking for ways to make better use of their space. The entire bathroom was demo-ed including the master bedroom attached to the bath. The tiled tub pedestal and wood apron were removed to make way for the new freestanding tub. An arched tray ceiling above the new tub frames in the statement wall that draws your eye from the unique tub to the new light above it.

VillageHomeShow S7E1.2

The shower goes into the same location but there is an addition of a bench seat, custom wall shelf, and new shower head and control system. What an incredible space to use! A mosaic tile is repeated in a bathtub wall niche, in the new custom shower, and again behind the mirrors in each vanity area.

VillageHomeShow S7E1.6

A stunning chandelier now hangs in the new bathtub area. This fixture is a warm, champagne gold finish that pairs will with other metals and brings warmth and a unique reflection to the tub area.

VillageHomeShow S7E1.7

We are pretty jealous of this new spacious and stylish tub area. But don’t think that all that open space will give you a chill. We did install a heated flooring system beneath the tile before it was installed. Exiting the shower or the bathtub, your bare feet with be greeted with warmth.

VillageHomeShow S7E1.4

Smart Finishing Touches

The Adorne Collection from Legrande can put a stylish and smart finish on any project in your home. This collection of switches, dimmers, and solutions is quite amazing. There are options like taptouch switches and softtap dimmers that look as good as they are functional.

VillageHomeShow S7E1.5

Other options include pop-up outlets, wave controled switches and amazingly – outlets with USB ports. The switchplates are another way to be unique in your space and show your style. There are white units, brushed stainless steel, woods, leathers, and even vibrant colors!

Tow Local Kitchen Before & After Stories

Welcome to Episode 6 of the Village Home Show. In this episode we will share with you the before and after stories of two remodeled kitchens right in our local area. Also in this episode, an expert in tile will discuss options and the latest trends in kitchen tile.

A Backsplash Adds Texture and Style to Your Space

The 18″ space from your kitchen countertop to the bottom of your wall cabinetry is a great surface to express your personal style. If you have a larger area of wall above a cooktop, range, or kitchen sink you have even more of an opportunity to add texture and style to your space. There are various categories of tile material that can be installed in a kitchen backsplash. We will see many styles in this episode of the Village Home Show. Some general wall tile categories used in a kitchen include:

  • Ceramic
  • Glass
  • Metal
  • Natural Stone
  • Mirror
  • Combinations of all of these

Tour a Remodeled Rock Island Kitchen From Start to Finish

The original kitchen in this Rock Island home included an entire empty wall offering no storage at all. If this kitchen was going to get remodeled, it needed to be done to use the space much smarter and open it up to the areas nearby. The goal of the new design from Village Home Stores was to create one open space with plenty of new storage.

In the new design, seating has been added to the area of wall that was removed from the existing kitchen. This shifted the dining room table to move into the front room area. This remodel story is exactly why we love having the opportunity to show you with video just how open and inviting the overall space is. See an alternative to a microwave hood… the over-the-COUNTER model by Sharp! This unique model allows you to keep the microwave off the counter but frees up the hood area for something more decorative.

Be sure to watch this before and after story to also see the custom hutch area and a linen cabinet that we built-in down the hallway. Plus Tucker (shown below) have his very own favorite storage cabinet he wants to show you.

A Geneseo, IL Kitchen Remodel From Floor to Ceiling

A stunning remodeled space in Geneseo, IL. Birch wood cabinetry in the Seneca door style and Briarwood stain and a black accent glaze are perfectly paired with Cambria Quartz counters in the Blackwood design. But the sink wall tile is what truly grabs your attention.

VillageHomeShow S6E1.1

A cappuccino linear mosaic tile is illuminated by our diode led system beneath the wall cabinetry. The tile even reflects onto the dark Cambria tops in a way that mirrors the tile back onto the tops. Watch this episode to see how we removed the grid ceiling and tiles and replaced everything from floor to ceiling and from start to finish.
